This growth is fuelled by inspirational academics, professionals who bring vision, passion, and expertise to their disciplines.

Driven by our continued growth in student numbers and our commitment to delivering outstanding learning, teaching, and research opportunities for our students, we are expanding our academic community. As part of this growth, we are creating a number of key academic positions that will play an integral role in shaping our university's next chapter.

About the School of Psychology

The School of Psychology is a large, dynamic department with an excellent reputation for both teaching and research. Our portfolio includes BPS-accredited undergraduate programmes and a wide range of postgraduate taught courses, including Health Psychology. In REF 2021, the school was ranked 37th nationally for research power and was the fourth largest submission from a Post-92 institution. Our staff currently hold substantial research grants from major funders including; Wellcome, NIHR, ESRC, BA, NHS Trusts, and charities. Since REF2021, we have produced over 800 publications and received more than 6,000 citations, reflecting the value and reach of our scholarly output.

What we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint two new lecturers, one in developmental psychology and one in forensic psychology, to contribute to our BPS accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of high-quality teaching materials and associated student assessment activities and will contribute to the planning, design and development of modules and programmes and curriculum changes. You will play a key role in establishing an independent research portfolio within the parameters of the school/department research portfolio, and engage in relevant research, professional and knowledge exchange activities as well as having input into administrative duties as required.

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals with a PhD in Psychology or equivalent qualification/experience relevant to the discipline. Our staff are visible and present for our students and this all adds to the fantastic student experience of living and studying in such a vibrant city. We see our staff as very much part of this community and value their contribution to the success of LJMU, Liverpool and the wider northwest region.

The school operates hybrid working and postgraduate supervision is delivered both face to face and online.
