Job summary
A local charity supporting older people is seeking volunteers for their befriending service. Volunteers will provide friendly calls to older individuals to combat loneliness and build meaningful relationships. This role is flexible, allowing volunteers to choose how much time to commit. Interested individuals can apply by contacting the Volunteer Hub or completing an online registration form.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly calls to older people feeling lonely.
- Build relationships and offer support to individuals.
Role: Age UK Norfolk’s befriending service offers a lifeline to many older people who would otherwise feel lonely and isolated across Norfolk. Their befriending service is a chatty, friendly call. It’s then building of relationships with an older person (or persons as befrienders may choose to be in contact with more than one person) and passing on requests for other support. It sounds simple, but it makes a significant impact.
Time commitment: Flexible.
About the organisation: Age UK Norfolk is an independent, local charity. They have 75 years’ experience of supporting older people and their families living in Norfolk. They raise their own funds and fundraise locally to provide vital services across the county.
Their relationship with other Age UK charities allows them to share knowledge and expertise, and to actively promote the wellbeing of older people through collective national and local campaigning
