Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is a key member of a cross-disciplinary team in supporting the operational maintenance of Safran Cockpit, Navigation, Computer, and Calculator for military and commercial aircraft. The Electrical Engineer will be driving the design of test benches, test boxes and tools necessary for the maintenance of these products. As well as, ensuring the maintenance of the products are up to the Safran standard and specification.
Essential Job Functions
Product design includes Electrical Requirements Capture, Digital Design, High Power Design, Analog Design, Schematic Capture, and PCB layout.
Perform operational, maintenance, or testing procedures for electronic products, components, equipment or systems.
Produce engineering estimates for individual tasks up to complete electronic designs.
Ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects to achieve the company's strategic and financial goals.
Provide support and relevant documentation to the other engineering teams (such as software, mechanical, and materials) to develop and modify new and existing test equipment.
Perform product troubleshooting and lab testing.
Prepare, review, and approve documentation, test procedures, etc. to define and validate test equipment.
Provide technical support, interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams, operations, quality, program management, suppliers and customers to resolve problems and implement solutions.
Evaluate test equipment design changes for impact to product design, cost, and schedule.
Demonstrate an understanding of internal processes and methods and tools.
Ensures work complies to company policies and processes.

Additional responsibilities
In addition to the above, they will have significant knowledge of projects, systems, and applicable regulatory requirements in Aviation maintenance process. Provide technical supports to operations, customers and other departments. Define and validate the disassembly/assembly process are within the company standard. Estimate, track, manage, and report status relating to technical, cost, schedule, and risk performance for scope of work, which may span across multiple projects. Provide input and guidance to the designs and development of test equipment. Ensuring the maintenance process complied with newly released documentation. Support in the Repair Process Improvement projects. Perform root cause analysis and deep-dive investigation on units with multiple returns; analyzing the test reports and repair data to provide technical conclusion. Define and validate the disassembly/assembly process are within the company standard. Understand all processes interfacing with their organization.
Travel Specificity: Potential travel between Grand Prairie, Texas and other locations up to 25%.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and laboratory. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Understand all processes interfacing with their organization. Provide guidance and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Manage, mentor and train junior engineers. Responsible for maintaining a functional team of interns.
Work level T1: Work with minimum supervision. Occasionally serve as the lead engineer on moderate complexity projects. Validate the test equipment are properly maintain yearly. Identify the risks associated with the maintenance procedure and products. Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop test equipment and tools for new Entry-In-Service. Occasionally requires guidance to prioritize projects and tasks.
Work level T2: Works independently. Often serve as the lead engineer on moderate complexity projects and have accountability for ongoing activities and objectives. Coordinate and facilitate with multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure the routine maintenance of test equipment. Analyze the failures and risks associated with the maintenance procedure and products; and Propose various solutions and tools for technical and project issues. Pilot the development of new test equipment and tools required for new Entry-In-Service. Often prioritize projects and activities that meet the company deadlines.
Required Competencies
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited course of study or related field required.
5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
With addition to the above experience
Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines
Ability to analyze incident and propose technical solutions
Ability to prioritize projects and tasks to ensure a timely and efficient completion
In-depth knowledge and experience in aerospace or electrical system
Has an understanding of the company standing, objectives, and goals
Understand all processes interfacing with their organization
Knowledge of production and repair process in the aeronautic environment
Experience in analog circuit design (digital is a plus), including DC/AC circuits, DC-DC converters, constant current sources, FPGAs
Knowledge of civil avionics digital interfaces (RS-232, RS-422, A429)
Working knowledge of computer hardware design and interfacing; microcontrollers; embedded communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, ARINC)
Knowledge of civil avionics analog interfaces (thermocouple, synchro, shunt, etc) and discrete interfaces.
