Samsara’s connected operations cloud, a scalable, cloud-connected sensor platform, collects and stores real-time data from a vast network of hardware devices. Our cloud dashboard and mobile app give customers real-time visibility into their commercial fleet and industrial centre operations, helping them improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our two teams: Telematics and Sustainability.

Our Telematics teams are at the core of our platform, processing real-time signals—like GPS, Engine RPM, and Fuel Levels—from our IoT devices in vehicles. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll take ownership of complex features and play a key role in developing solutions that have a tangible, real-world impact. You’ll work closely with engineers across the team to define and build our next-generation technology.

The Sustainability team is a cross-functional product engineering team that designs, develops, and maintains solutions to help our customers become more sustainable in their fleet operations. We primarily work across web, mobile, and Spark, and you’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, and firmware engineers to build out our feature sets.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the United Kingdom. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

• Work with product managers, designers, firmware, and infrastructure engineers to design, build, test, and deliver end-to-end products
• Develop skills and knowledge across multiple technologies - Go, GraphQL, Typescript, JavaScript, React, and React Native are some of the components of our technology stack. Direct experience with these technologies is not required
• Solve real life problems and optimize fleets globally
• Coach, mentor and guide engineers in the team, playing a part in their growth and development. Also, receive support on your own personal development
• Maintaining the production systems that your team owns and provide operational support
• Grow as an engineer - Samsara engineers are constantly learning. We’re an engineering-first organisation with ample room for progression
• Participate in the on-call rotation and outage investigations in the team’s domain
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on customer success, build for the long term, adopt a growth mindset, be inclusive, and win as a team) as we scale globally and across new offices

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience
• Professional experience working with a team to develop customer-focused products
• Strong programming/coding fundamentals in a language such as Java, Python, Golang, or Javascript
• Experience designing, building and maintaining large-scale systems
• Experience operating, maintaining, and enhancing upon large-scale application services
• An ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your team

• Experience with Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
• Familiarity with multiple tiers, like React Frontends and Microservices
• Contributed heavily to driving significant value to their customers
• Curiosity about our customers, and is eager to improve their day-to-day experience
• Seeks to iterate on new products based on customer feedback
