Job Description
We're supporting a cutting-edge research programme focused on the safety characteristics of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) that meet Jet A-1 specifications. This role will suit a research-minded engineer or scientist with a strong background in fuel chemistry, combustion, or safety analysis.

- Conducting a detailed literature review on flammability characteristics of hydrocarbon fuels
- Investigating whether a predictive relationship exists between flash point and flammability limits (UEL/LEL)
- Comparing SAF properties (including paraffinic and synthetic fuels) against conventional kerosene (Jet A-1)
- Summarising findings in clear, evidence-based technical reports
- Making recommendations for how these relationships may inform future safety assessments or certification standards
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
- Degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Combustion Science, or a related discipline
- Experience working with fuel properties, flammability analysis, or combustion safety
- Strong technical writing and literature review skills
- Understanding of SAFs, synthetic fuels, or fuel certification is beneficial but not essential
