This advertised post is for a substantive Consultant to join the Haemato‑Oncology Department at the Barts Cancer Centre, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London. It is a replacement post due to consultant retirement.

The successful candidate will join the existing multi‑disciplinary team in providing inpatient and outpatient services, including CAR T cell therapy to patients with lymphoid malignancies. In addition to clinical duties, the consultant will contribute to the development of service pathways, participate in teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students, and engage in research activities aimed at improving lymphoma outcomes. The post holder will actively recruit patients to clinical trials.

• Active member of the Cancer Centre, helping deliver the departmental mission of excellence in clinical care and teaching.
• Provide a comprehensive, efficient and high‑quality evidence‑based Haemato‑oncology service, with full responsibility for patient care and administrative duties associated with patient care.
• Leadership, development and organisation of the services in line with the Trust/Divisional business plans. Full participation in the management of the Barts Cancer Centre (BCC) and liaison with the Divisional Director, Clinical Director, Lead Clinicians and the General and Service Managers.
• Provide clinical care for patients within Haemato‑oncology, including in‑patients and out‑patients, and offer specialist advice and a referral service for other clinicians in the Trust.
• Responsible for clinical audit activities, which are an essential and regular part of clinical practice.
• Participate in the Trust’s clinical governance activities and encourage and foster improvements in the quality and standards of clinical services.
• Coordinate the provision of a consolidated service across all sites in the Trust; note that there is no diagnostic or laboratory haematology component to this post – SIHMDS is undertaken by the regional SIHMDS service at the Royal London Hospital; consultative general haematology services are provided by Clinical Haematology.
• Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients in charge and the running of their clinics or departments.
• Participate in the consultant on‑call rota and provide cover for colleagues in times of absence and leave when required.
• Have a key role in providing a high‑quality clinical service for patients with haematological malignancies, increase access of patient enrolment within clinical trials, and integrate the patient pathway within Barts Health NHS Trust and its referring hospitals.
• Maintain up‑to‑date specialist knowledge and provide evidence‑based care for all patients.
• Attend multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, Community Services and all health care agencies.
• Initiate and promote research and development activities with a clear focus on relevant clinical and scientific priorities.
