Job summary
A leading job portal in aviation is seeking an experienced Equipment Specialist to join a team at RAF Brize Norton. This part-time role requires attention to detail and expertise in maintaining survival equipment. Responsibilities include servicing oxygen generators, inspecting life vests, and ensuring operational readiness. Must have completed a recognised apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance. The position offers an hourly rate of £27.00 Umbrella or £20.18 PAYE.

Hours: Standard 35 hours per week, working 4.5 days between 7am – 7pm, hours to be agreed
We are seeking four experienced and dependable contractors to support operations in the Role Equipment Bay. These roles are essential to the effective maintenance and servicing of critical survival and role-specific aircraft equipment. Working under the guidance of the Role Bay Coordinator and Head of Workshops, you will contribute to ensuring equipment readiness, compliance, and operational delivery in a high-tempo aerospace environment.
- Servicing of chemical oxygen generators in accordance with OEM procedures and regulatory standards
- Inspection, repacking, and maintenance of life vests and associated survival equipment
- Accurate data collection and input into maintenance management systems and technical records
- Application of corrosion prevention compounds on relevant components and assemblies
- Daily servicing of Class 3 role equipment, ensuring readiness and operational availability
- Compliance with all safety, quality, and procedural requirements
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining workplace standards in line with 6S principles
- Demonstrable experience in the maintenance and servicing of survival and/or role equipment
- Proficiency in interpreting technical publications and adhering to regulated maintenance practices
- Competent in the use of digital tools and maintenance data systems
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in a defence aerospace or military MRO environment
- Familiarity with A400M or similar military transport platforms
- Awareness of human factors, FOD prevention, and tool control practices
Completion of a recognised apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance, survival equipment, or an equivalent military/civilian qualification
