Job summary

A leading charity in Greater London seeks a Qualified Year-End Accountant to assist in preparing statutory accounts and managing the year-end process. This role requires close collaboration with senior finance stakeholders and external auditors to ensure accuracy and compliance in delivering financial reports. The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with 3–5 years of experience in senior finance roles. A strong understanding of FRS102 and Charity SORP is essential, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office tools. This is a full-time, remote position for a 6-month fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts across two finance systems and liaise with external auditors
• Post year-end adjustments for both income and expenditure
• Provide detailed supporting schedules, documentation, and clear explanations
• Work with the financial accounts team to progress statutory accounts from draft through to final sign-off
• Review draft accounts, including cash flow statements, control account reconciliations, and supporting working papers
• Process accounting adjustments as requested by auditors
• Support the Finance Team with financial data cleansing in accordance with data retention policies
• Carry out additional duties as required to assist the finance function

Ideal candidate profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA)
• 3–5 years post-qualification experience in senior finance roles, ideally within the charity or housing sector
• Demonstrated in preparing statutory accounts and managing audits for large organisations
• Strong technical knowledge of FRS102 and Charity SORP
• Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other standard office applications
• Professional, collaborative, and methodical approach, with a commitment to ongoing development
