Job description

This prestigious client is part of a multi-faceted group that has been providing first-class fleet solutions for many years. They operate locally, nationally, and are a truly international brand.

Your career path will include upskilling on new products and completing various courses to enhance your efficiency in the role.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced HGV Technician who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

You can expect to work in a positive and vibrant environment where your efforts will be rewarded. Skills shortages can be addressed through upskilling, but the right attitude and desire to provide first-class service cannot be trained.

Your responsibilities will include inspections of a varied fleet, which may include main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGV), refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers, and tippers.

The work you can expect to carry out includes (but is not limited to):

  1. Routine and preventative maintenance
  2. MOT preparation
  3. Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
  4. 6 or 8 weekly inspections
  5. Correction of running defects
  6. Chassis and fabrication work
  7. Hydraulics and pneumatics
  8. Improvement of vehicle standards
  9. Electrical and wiring inspections and repairs

Ideally, you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ, or equivalent. Additional certifications such as IRTEC would be advantageous, as would a HGV Class 1 license.
