Workshop Technician

Location: Langley, Slough • Temporary to Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week, on-site) • Salary £29,000 - £35,000

Are you an experienced engineering professional with a manufacturing background? We’re looking for a skilled Workshop Technician to join a dynamic team. If you have hands-on expertise with manual lathes, milling machines, and a range of hand tools, we’d love to hear from you. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time. You’ll also need to be comfortable with occasional heavy lifting and possess a proactive, team-oriented approach.

Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in engineering manufacturing, with knowledge of measurements and threads.
  • Hands-on expertise with manual lathes, milling machines, and bench drills.
  • Proficient in using hand tools for machining tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Comfortable with occasional heavy lifting.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work overtime when necessary.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain manual lathes, milling machines, and bench drills to produce components with precision.
  • Use hand tools and measurement equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to ensure accuracy.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Machine various materials, including metals, alloys, and plastics.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust machine settings as needed to maintain product quality.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of machines and promptly report any mechanical issues.
  • Perform quality inspections on finished products to ensure they meet required tolerances.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet production deadlines.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address technical challenges.
  • Maintain a clean, organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations.
