Job summary

A leading vehicle manufacturer in Norwich is seeking a Workshop Support Operative to assist with service and parts. This role includes supporting workshop technicians, maintaining cleanliness, and responsibly moving vehicles. Ideal candidates should have a positive attitude, good organisational skills, and preferably some workshop experience. Competitive hourly pay of £14.50 with benefits including holiday and healthcare options.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a workshop, transport, or commercial vehicle environment is an advantage.

  • Support technicians with general workshop duties and housekeeping.
  • Collect and deliver customer vehicles as needed.
  • Ensure the service department and workshop are kept clean and tidy.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs to workshop and equipment.

Job description

Monday to Friday

0800hrs to 1600hrs (1/2 hr unpaid lunch)

As a Workshop Support Operative you will offer support to both Service and Parts, ensuring cleaning and facilities are kept to the highest standard, whilst also offering support within the Parts function as required.

What you will do

A varied role covering both driving, workshop support, cleaning:

  • Previous yard, workshop, or site experience is desirable
  • Driving licence preferred (HGV or forklift licence is a bonus)
  • Support technicians with general workshop duties and housekeeping
  • Assist with cleaning, preparing, and inspecting vehicles
  • Collect and deliver customer vehicles as needed - if you have correct licence
  • Safely move, park, and position vehicles around the yard and workshop
  • Ensure the service department, workshop facilities and yard areas are kept clean and tidy to the standards required, and other areas as and when instructed.
  • Report cleaning material requirements to workshop supervisor.
  • Control the waste product area.
  • Carry out vehicle washes as instructed - including steam cleaning
  • Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs to workshop and equipment as instructed.
  • Report equipment/facility faults to Aftermarket Manager/Shift Supervisor.
  • Ensure service vans are kept in a clean and tidy condition and to check road worthiness on a daily basis, and report damages
