Qualifications

  • Fully qualified HGV Technician with relevant certifications.
  • Experience with routine and preventative maintenance on HGVs.
  • Ability to perform inspections and corrections on electrics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and carry out scheduled servicing.
  • Conduct inspections and manage running defect corrections.

Workshop HGV Engineer

Permanent day shifts - Basic salary up to £46,500 plus overtime

We are looking for a qualified and time served HGV Technician who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

You can expect to be situated in a positive and vibrant working environment where your efforts will be rewarded. A skills shortage can be trained by way of upskilling. What cannot be trained however is the right attitude and the desire to give your clients a first class service.

Responsibilities

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to)

  • Routine (and preventative) maintenance
  • MOT preparation
  • Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
  • 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
  • Correction of running defects
  • Chassis and fabrication work
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Improvement of vehicle standards
  • Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGV#s) refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers and tippers-

Qualifications

Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.

Additional accreditations such as IRTEC would be desirable, as would a HGV Class 1 or licence.
