Overview

Wire Harness Tech – Technique are working with our client who have an opportunity for a Wire Person at a growing, forward thinking and modern business in Wymondham, Norfolk. This opportunity presents a genuinely excellent time to join their growing engineering business and to become part of the team that delivers the highest standard of work.

Location: Wymondham, Norfolk. Working hours: Monday-Thursday 08:00-17:00, Friday (hours not stated in original text).

Responsibilities
  • Assembly and Fabrication: Assemble wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and connectors following engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Perform tasks such as cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and splicing of wires and cables. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to ensure high-quality outputs and adherence to specifications.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and test assembled products for continuity, functionality, and specification compliance. Identify and report defects, deviations, or non-conformities. Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and production activities.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Read and interpret wiring schematics, mechanical drawings and work orders. Maintain detailed production logs, including material usage and time tracking. Communicate with engineers and supervisors to resolve production issues or discrepancies.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Perform continuity and insulation resistance tests. Identify and repair defects or malfunctions in wire harnesses. Ensure all assemblies meet industry standards and customer requirements. Maintain precise records of tests and inspections.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair faulty wire harnesses. Replace damaged wires and connectors as necessary. Perform regular maintenance on tools and equipment.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620.

  • Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
