Job summary

A technology recruitment agency is seeking a Win 11 Infrastructure Engineer to handle Windows 11 hardware and software refresh tasks in Reading. The role requires Active Directory experience and knowledge of Windows 10 and 11. Successful candidates must hold SC Security Clearance. The compensation ranges between £250 to £270 a day, inside IR35, with responsibilities including system checks and user upgrades.

Qualifications

• Experience with Active Directory including adding objects and groups.
• Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and 11.
• Troubleshooting experience with devices and applications.
• Windows Administration skills, including HDD cleanup.
• Experience with SCCM and task sequence building is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Refresh Windows 11 Microsoft Surface Pro hardware and software.
• Confirm user preferences for upgrades (Onsite or Remote).
• Execute device unlock and setup for Windows 11.
• Perform system health checks and clean-up disk space.
• Rebuild/replace devices as needed; apply Windows updates.

Overview

Win 11 Infrastructure Engineer

+6 months +

+On site in Reading

+£250 - £270 a day Inside IR35

+SC cleared role

Due to the nature of our client's work the successful candidate will need to currently hold SC Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day activities will include Windows 11 Microsoft Surface Pro hardware and software refresh based on client\'s secure location.
• Candidate will need strong interpersonal skills, organisation, excellent written and verbal communication as well as sound IT knowledge comprising hardware and software technologies in particular MS Surface Pro devices, various Windows operating systems particularly Windows 10 and 11 versions.
• Use of Booking Tool (ServiceNow) to confirm user and time slot.
• Confirm with user on their upgrade preference (Onsite or Remote).
• MS Surface Device – Unlock the BIOS boot configuration lock setting; boot user device; action - user to log in.
• Capture all installed applications, peripherals, and all AD groups memberships.
• Perform system health check (Disk Space & System Errors).
• Clean up disk where possible (Free up space - 70gb).
• Where possible disable OneDrive sync (For further Disk space).
• Determine if the device Windows 11 upgrade is possible (HDD size).
• Shut down device and hand to user to perform Windows 11 upgrade at their convenience.
• In-clinic Windows 11 upgrade (in place) if applicable; rebuild/replace as needed; apply new Windows 11 build when replacing.
• Once built install applications, peripherals & add to relevant AD groups.
• Apply Windows and Office updates where applicable.
• Get user to log into the new / rebuilt device.
• Test Ozone WIFI and 4G WIFI.
• Update user records / inventory; hand new device to user.

• Some AD experience (adding objects and groups).
• Windows 10 & 11 knowledge (OneDrive, system logs).
• Troubleshooting knowledge with device and applications.
• Windows Administration (HDD cleanup).
• Some SCCM/TS (task sequence) building knowledge.
• Customer facing experience.
• Device BIOS knowledge.
