Job summary

A specialist engineering recruitment firm seeks a skilled Welder/Fabricator in Gillingham. The candidate will fabricate and weld structural steel components, including balustrades and staircases. Responsibilities include reading technical drawings, performing MIG and TIG welding, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Proven experience in structural welding and the ability to work with various materials is essential. This is a full-time position with competitive pay.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a structural steel or balustrade welder/fabricator.
  • Experience with aluminium is advantageous.

Overview

AMLR is partnering with a reputable engineering company to recruit a skilled, reliable, and time‑served Welder/Fabricator to join their team. You will be required to fabricate and weld structural steel components, balustrades, handrails, staircases, and architectural metalwork.

Duties
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Perform MIG, TIG welding (depending on project requirements).
  • Cut, drill, grind, and prepare steel, stainless steel, and aluminium materials.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Carry out quality checks on welds and finished components.
  • Assist with on‑site installation of fabricated steel and balustrades when required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Operate fabrication tools and machinery safely and efficiently.
Experience
  • Proven experience as a structural steel or balustrade welder/fabricator.
  • Strong welding skills with relevant processes (MIG/TIG/Stick).
  • Experience working with mild steel and stainless steel (aluminium advantageous).
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication and architectural drawings.
