Job description

We're looking for an organised and proactive Weighbridge Operator to join our client’s operations team at our Biomass Power Plant. This role is key to ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient handling of fuel deliveries, outbound materials, and site logistics. You'll be the first point of contact for drivers arriving on-site and play an important part in keeping fuel supply and plant operations running smoothly.

Weighbridge Operator Key Responsibilities

• Operate the weighbridge system to record vehicle weights accurately.
• Process inbound biomass fuel deliveries and outbound waste or by-product loads.
• Issue weighbridge tickets and ensure all data is entered correctly into the system.
• Verify load documentation and check compliance with site requirements.

Site & Logistics Coordination

• Liaise with drivers to ensure safe traffic flow and adherence to site safety rules.
• Communicate with fuel supply, operations, and control room teams regarding deliveries and material movements.
• Monitor daily fuel intake and flag any discrepancies or quality concerns.

Compliance & Reporting

• Maintain accurate, auditable records for environmental, commercial, and operational reporting.
• Ensure waste transfer notes, delivery notes, and compliance documents are completed correctly.
• Follow all site HSE procedures and report any unsafe behaviours or incidents.

General Administrative Support

• File documentation, update spreadsheets, and maintain delivery logs.
• Provide support to the wider operations team when needed.

Weighbridge Operator Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience working as a Weighbridge Operator, Gatehouse Operator, Logistics Administrator, or similar role (energy, waste, aggregates, biomass, or industrial preferred).
• Comfortable working with weighbridge software and basic IT systems (MS Office, data entry).
• Good communication skills when dealing with drivers, contractors, and site teams.
• Understanding of site safety requirements and willingness to challenge unsafe behaviour.
• Ability to work independently and manage a steady flow of vehicle traffic.

Weighbridge Operator Desirable Experience

• Experience within a Biomass, Energy‑from‑Waste, CHP, Waste Management, Recycling, or Process Plant environment.
• Knowledge of fuel types, moisture content, contamination checks, or material handling.
• Familiarity with environmental compliance documentation (WTNs, duty of care, etc.).
