Job description
Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a driven individual to lead and take responsibility for shaping the technical development of key weapon system equipment in a high-profile naval project, for our Domestic Customer and future potential export customers. Reporting to the Head of Naval Sub-Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective development and delivery of the platform interface equipment with the MK41 VLS Launch System during the demonstration & manufacture phase. As a Project Engineer (RMO) at MBDA, you will be the technical interface between the project organisation and the equipment Design Authority (internal or external). The RMO provides the leadership that ensures weapon system equipment is designed, accepted, and delivered to meet system performance and project commitments. RMOs at MBDA balance the client facing representation with a technical focus lead, subject to the degree of delivery responsibility vested in the supplier or Design Authority.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the derivation of the technical requirements for your equipment and the integration strategy with peer systems including project lifecycle management and acceptance of the identified deliverables;
  • Manage the technical interface with the equipment Design Authority, internal or external, including cost considerations and route to sustained manufacture;
  • Contribute to key activities in the engineering development lifecycle such as trade studies and design reviews;
  • Manage the challenges of implementing developed items, ensuring effective consideration of modularity and re-use in the current and future acquisition processes;
  • Lead a focused team to deliver the activities above, subject to the size and complexity of the task.
