Job Title: Night Waste Operative

Pay rate: £14.65 per hour

Contract Type: Full Time

Type of Employment: Fixed Term Contract (3 Months)

Hours: 36 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 6 pm - 6 am, Thursday - Saturday (Night Shift)

Location: McCormick (UK), 5 Forli Strada, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England, PE7 3HH

Qualifications
  • Valid forklift operator license/certification
  • Previous experience in waste management or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude

We are looking for a Waste Operative to join the Waste and Cleaning team to undertake the collection, movement, sorting, processing and dispatch of waste and other materials including the compaction of waste and cardboard.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, move, sort, process and dispatch waste and other materials including compaction of waste and cardboard.
  • Work and stay compliant to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Monitor the performance of equipment.
  • Provide support to the On‑Site Waste Coordinator to complete site objectives and follow PPE guidance.
  • Hold a current Counterbalance FLT license and work outdoors under extreme weather conditions.
  • Pass a DBS check and drug/alcohol screening test prior to starting.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Health & Safety training, an understanding of waste management and environmental legislation, have previous experience in the use of static balers and compactors and also be capable of carrying out strenuous tasks.
