Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Waste Management Operative for a temporary role supporting waste and recycling services in Buntingford. Waste Management Operative

North Hertfordshire Council

£13.50 per hour, PAYE

37 hours per week

About the Role

We are an agency recruiting on behalf of our client, North Hertfordshire Council, for a Waste Management Operative. The role supports waste, recycling and street cleansing services across East and North Hertfordshire. You will work with residents, contractors and depot teams to help keep services running smoothly. Much of the work involves lone working across the district.

What You Will Do
  • Carry out checks on waste, recycling and street cleansing work
  • Record findings and update waste management systems
  • Inspect bins, cleanliness levels and local environmental standards
  • Report graffiti following agreed procedures
  • Complete surveys on recycling participation and service performance
  • Assess waste and recycling needs for new developments
  • Carry out door to door surveys and recycling audits
  • Deliver and collect waste and recycling containers
  • Provide advice to residents about waste and recycling services
  • Support occasional weekend events
What We’re Looking For
  • Basic understanding of waste and recycling services
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Confident working alone and planning your own daily routes
  • Good communication skills with residents and colleagues
  • Experience in waste management or working with contractors is helpful
  • Positive and proactive approach to tasks and queries
