Your New Role

Are you passionate about sustainability and want to make a real impact behind the scenes? Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden is looking for a dedicated and proactive Waste & Recycling Operative to join our Facilities team and play a vital role in maintaining the studio’s world-class environment.

This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring the entire WBSL site, including roadways, drains, and pathways, is kept safe and free from litter. You’ll take pride in upholding high standards of cleanliness across the site, helping to create a professional and welcoming space for our clients and productions. Working closely with the Facilities team, you’ll manage the waste yard, champion best-practice waste segregation, and oversee refuse collections, all while ensuring full compliance with health and safety procedures.

Your day-to-day will be diverse, with tasks ranging from general maintenance to responding to emergencies like diesel spills, gritting paths in winter, and preparing for adverse weather conditions. You’ll be a key part of the team that keeps the studio running smoothly, both inside and out. While primarily based at our Leavesden site, occasional off-site work may be required.

If you love working outdoors and take pride in keeping spaces clean, safe, and eco-friendly, we want to hear from you!

Your Role Accountabilities
  • Report progress and updates via two-way radio, email, Planon, and other communication platforms.
  • Deliver training for waste receptacles.
  • Ensure all personnel entering the waste yards have completed the required induction.
  • Operate mechanical cardboard bailers, compactors, and waste bins.
  • Transport and empty general waste bins within the recycling yards.
  • Manually sort recycling material and cardboard bins.
  • Collect and remove litter, fly tipping, throughout the site.
  • Keep access routes and building entrances clear at all times.
  • Safely clear any spillages promptly and replace consumables, reporting usage to the support desk and accounting teams.
  • Prepare and execute seasonal activities, such as maintaining and servicing gritting equipment, monitoring salt stock levels, arranging hire equipment, and snow clearing contractors.
Qualifications & Experiences
  • Experience in a variety of cleaning and labouring tasks.
  • Experience working within a customer-facing environment.
  • COSHH awareness (training will be given).
  • Waste management and recycling/sustainability training (training will be given).
  • IPAF/Forklift certification (training will be given).
  • Manual Handling (training will be given).
  • Ground works/Drainage experience is advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Experience of using ride-on washers’ scrubbers and sweepers is advantageous.
