Overview

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Warehouse Shift Manager to join our Chessington depot. This role will suit an experienced Supervisor or Junior Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will play a key role in managing daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient routing, picking, and dispatch, while driving excellent customer service both internally and externally. The company specializes in the distribution of catering and hospitality equipment, such as beer lines, crockery and glassware.

During training, you will work Monday - Friday, 10:30 - 19:00, before moving to your permanent shift pattern, which will be:

  • Sunday: 12:00 - 20:00
  • Monday - Thursday: 14:00 - 22:00
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate the warehouse team to meet company standards.
  • Manage and develop the Routing Controller to achieve operational goals.
  • Become a system expert (Merlin) and oversee daily routing, picking, and dispatching.
  • Route vehicles efficiently to maintain our Day 1 order, Day 3 delivery promise, while seeking improvements.
  • Consolidate deliveries to maximise efficiency of site visits.
  • Print and distribute picking lists to the warehouse team.
  • Address stock issues and liaise with the Stock Manager on discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Sales and Accounts teams to resolve routing and invoicing queries.
  • Reconcile picking lists, route manifests, and dispatch notes to ensure 100% accuracy before invoicing.
  • Support the wider warehouse team in identifying and implementing operational efficiencies.
Requirements
  • Experience as a Senior Supervisor or Assistant Manager in a warehouse/distribution environment.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of London.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to develop within the role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • All orders and routes dispatched daily.
  • Day 1 order to Day 3 delivery target achieved at 95%+ (excluding back orders).
