Job Description

Join Us as a Warehouse Driver at Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester CO2 7UT. As a Warehouse Driver, you'll play a crucial part in supporting our daily operations, ensuring goods move efficiently across site and helping us deliver an exceptional service to our colleagues and clients. What you’ll do:
  • Receive, organise and deliver goods to satellite kitchens across site.
  • Support all deliveries into the warehouse, including unloading, breaking down, and storing goods safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor and control the flow of goods in and out of warehouse and storage areas.
  • Carry out regular stock checks, ensuring correct rotation and monitoring best‑before/use‑by dates.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of CPU systems and procedures, ensuring compliance with food safety and health & safety legislation.
  • Check refrigerated and frozen storage areas, record temperatures, and report any issues to the Stores and Distribution Manager.
  • Resolve delivery discrepancies and communicate any faults or non‑compliances promptly.
  • Support the Stores & Distribution Manager in maintaining service standards outlined in SLAs, KPIs and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure the professional and timely distribution of rations to company sub‑unit kitchens.
What you bring:
  • C1 (CAT C) drivers licence with at least 2 years' recent experience driving a 7.2‑ton vehicle
  • Drivers CPC card
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet daily requirements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining standards
Desirable
  • Basic manual handling training
  • Level 1 Food Safety and Level 1 Food Hygiene (or equivalent)
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and experience with food deliveries
