Ward Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to provide Maternity cover for a Ward Manager within Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.

G1 Ward is a specialist ward for people who have complex dementia and associated challenging or highly distressed behaviour. It is set in a peaceful location in private grounds with staff parking facilities. The ward has 16 beds and is the only one of its kind in Sheffield.

The team are currently engaged in some exciting changes which you could be part of and instrumental in leading.

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated individual with an interest in service development, quality improvement and a passion to ensure our service users receive high quality, compassionate care.

The individual will work in close collaboration with the Senior Nurse Practitioner and Matron to ensure that the clinical priorities and standards of care are achieved.

You will need to be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience of clinical leadership. You should be a confident, competent, and person-centred leader with a high level of knowledge and skills with dementia care. You should be passionate with a knowledge of standards and procedures that direct and influence this system.

Person Specification
Technical Skills
  • oSound knowledge of complex clinical issues, including the management of risk, different treatment modalities, the MHA, the MCA oSound knowledge and experience of managing a team. oSound knowledge of leadership and change- management. oSounds knowledge of nursing professional issues and professional responsibility and accountability. oEffective leadership skills and experience. oAbility to effectively manage an operational team to ensure the best possible outcomes for service users. oAbility to maintain, monitor and improve standards to enhance service user experience. oSound supervisory skills. oExcellent communication skills. oKnowledge of processes in the management of staff e.g. Sickness absence
  • oTrained to deliver specific mode of treatment e.g. CBT, DBT, PSI. Experience of managing staff through HR processes
Training and Qualifications
  • oRegistered Nurse on part 1 of the live register. oPost registration experience within acute inpatient service with a management/leadership role. oEvidence of continuous personal and professional development and willingness to undertake a qualification in leadership or management, to degree level or above
  • oQualification in a leadership or management module or course at degree level or above
