Ward Clerk / Receptionist

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Ward Clerk to join our dynamic team on Pearce Ward. As a key member of the ward, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of daily operations by providing high-quality clerical and administrative support to both patients and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

The ideal candidate will be reliable, efficient, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be the first point of contact for patients and their families, helping to ensure a welcoming and professional environment on the ward.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a friendly and professional point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors.
  • Liaising with the MDT to ensure timely completion of administrative tasks.
  • Managing patient admissions, discharges and updating records using the Hive system.
  • Answering telephone queries and directing calls appropriately.
  • Ordering and maintaining stationery and ward documentation supplies.
  • Supporting the team by adhering to ward protocols and improving working practices when needed.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy ward environment and is passionate about delivering high standards of administrative support that directly contribute to patient care and experience. This is a permanent full time position.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for candidates who have excellent telephone and communication skills and are eager to join our Administration team at Wythenshawe.

The position is a busy customer/administration service-based role where no two days can be the same. You will need to work flexibly and apply a methodical approach to a varying workload. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

You will work alongside the Consultants, Doctors and nurses to ensure our patients receive the best care possible. We are looking for candidates who will bring a positive approach to our working environment.

Successful candidates must have excellent IT skills and experience working in a customer service or healthcare environment as you will be expected to use IT and communication equipment associated with call handling and data input. You should demonstrate high levels of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient focused service.
