VP of Quality Engineering

Location : Remote

Role Context

We are hiring a senior engineering leader to own test engineering and quality at scale across the organisation. This role has full accountability for quality outcomes across all engineering teams and leads an established function of ~40 engineers.

The focus is on maturing and scaling test capability , not rapid headcount growth. This is a hands‑on, deeply technical leadership role , requiring comfort operating from board-level strategy through to detailed technical discussions.

Key Responsibilities
Test Engineering Strategy & Ownership
  • Own and evolve the end-to-end Test Engineering strategy.
  • Lead quality across four pillars :
  • Functional & Regression Testing
  • Test Automation
  • Performance Engineering
  • Certification & Compliance Testing
  • Embed consistent, high standards for testability and quality across teams.
  • Evolve the function into a scalable, future-proof capability.
Organisation & Leadership
  • Lead a ~40-person Test Engineering organisation.
  • Manage ~6 senior leaders (manager-of-managers).
  • Shape leadership across Automation, Manual Testing, Performance, and Certification.
  • Make targeted, high-impact hires where needed.
Technical & Stakeholder Leadership
  • Act as a senior technical authority on testing strategy, automation, and quality systems.
  • Champion quality-first engineering across the SDLC.
  • Influence executives, product, and engineering leaders to balance speed with confidence.
  • Align test strategy with business and regulatory objectives.
Experience
Essential
  • Proven leadership of large-scale Test / Quality Engineering functions.
  • Deep, hands‑on experience in automation, performance, and quality system design.
  • Experience leading managers-of-managers with strong technical credibility.
Desirable
  • Regulated, high-availability, or transactional environments.
