Job description
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 28 year old woman living in St Athans area, I live with my mum and step father I enjoy anything sports related on the television and I support Cardiff city football. I like to be creative and would love to attend a local art class. I would love a personal assistant to support me to go out in the community so I can have some new experiences and develop my social skills.

Since the age of 9 I have was diagnosed with epilepsy, my condition is a drug resistant epilepsy meaning my seizures are difficult to control. I experience small seizures on a daily basis I can have various types of seizures which can include staring episodes, electric like jerks, jerking and twisting to the right side with occasional loss of awareness and drowsiness following the seizures.

My step father has purchased a padded baseball cap as these drop in fits can happen without any notice.

Purpose of the Job

To support and keep me safe when I am out in the community.

Hours of Work

12 hours a week (ideally 3 days a week, afternoon after 1pm)

Rates of Pay

£14.45 per hour

Tasks Can Include
  • Going out to cinema.
  • Possibly going to the gym
  • Taking me to hospital appointments.
  • Attending an art class with me.
  • Keeping me safe at all times when out in the community.
Type of Person Required
  • Outgoing and chatty personality.
  • Someone who is able to drive with business class insurance.
  • Someone who is experienced with epilepsy
About the Job

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a pay slip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
