About the Role

The role of the Vehicle Technician (Mechanic) for South Western Ambulance Service provides an opportunity to work as part of a friendly professional team in a Fleet Workshop environment, ensuring that our vehicles and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. The role offers career development within the Fleet and Equipment team or in wider Trust positions, both patient‑facing and support roles.

Responsibilities

As a Vehicle Technician, you will undertake service, maintenance and repair activities on motor vehicles and equipment, recording details of diagnosis, work completed and components used in line with Trust and manufacturer standards. You will maintain clean, tidy and safe work areas, adhere to the Trust’s health and safety policy, and work independently as well as collaboratively within the team to meet satisfaction and work level targets. You will also support the Trust’s values of One Team, Compassionate, Innovative.

Specific tasks include:

• Servicing
• Fault diagnosis and repair
• Electrical/Electronic fault diagnosis and repair
• Equipment testing
• Maintenance and repair
