Junior Urban Designer

Location: Newcastle

Penguin Recruitment is supporting a well‑established, design‑led planning and architectural practice in their search for a Junior Urban Designer to join their talented team in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual with a background in architecture, urban design, or a related discipline to work on a wide range of residential, mixed‑use, regeneration and master‑planning projects across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of masterplans, layout design and urban analysis
• Assist in the preparation of design reports, frameworks and planning submissions
• Create high‑quality drawings, visualisations and diagrams using CAD and Adobe Creative Suite
• Conduct site and policy research to support design strategy
• Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants
• Support feasibility layouts for residential delivery

Compensation & Hours

Annual salary: £45,000

Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Qualifications

• A degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or a closely related field
• Strong design and graphic presentation skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign), AutoCAD and/or SketchUp
• Understanding of UK planning and urban design principles
• A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn and grow
