Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in England is looking for an experienced Upholsterer to prepare and upholster furniture, ensuring high-quality standards. The role requires at least three years of upholstery skills, manual dexterity, and the ability to work effectively with hand tools. Working hours are Monday to Thursday from 7am to 4pm and Friday from 7am to 12.45pm. Benefits include a pension scheme, healthcare package, onsite parking, and subsidised canteen facilities.

Qualifications

Job description
Duties and responsibilities
  • Prepare fabric and components for use in upholstery and/or soft furnishings.
  • Prepare to upholster items of furniture involving preparation of the frame for upholstery, application of suspensions and filling materials.
  • Competently fix upholstery to standard items of modern furniture and traditional furniture using a handheld staple gun, screw gun and other hand tools.
  • Maintain a high level of quality and meet production efficiency of at least 90%, in accordance with Company's standards.
  • Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and machinery.
Skills
  • High degree of upholstery skills with a minimum of 3 years' experience is desirable.
  • The ability to produce a good quality product with excellent attention to detail.
  • Practical skills, manual dexterity, especially hand skills and coordination.
  • A positive mind‑set with a 'can do' attitude.
  • The aptitude to assimilate techniques.
  • Manual handling, as some lifting is required.
  • Ability to use own initiative and work quickly to meet production deadlines.
  • Measuring and cutting skills would also be beneficial.
