Job description

South East Dance, the regional arts charity based in Brighton, is seeking a Trustee with Finance Expertise to join our Board. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic oversight of our finances as we continue to establish The Dance Space as a vibrant, welcoming, and accessible cultural hub for artists and communities across the South East.

We are looking for someone with a strong financial background, ideally a CIMA or ACCA qualified accountant, with experience in governance or charitable finance. You will play a key role in the Finance & Audit Sub-Committee, helping ensure robust financial control, compliance, and strategic planning, and supporting the wider Board in delivering South East Dance’s mission to transform lives through dance.

This is a voluntary, unpaid role, with an estimated time commitment of 8–10 days per year, including quarterly Board meetings, Finance & Audit Sub-Committee meetings, and occasional events. Reasonable expenses, including travel, childcare, and access support, can be claimed.

South East Dance is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and offers a Disability Confident Interview Scheme. We welcome applications from individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.

How to apply: Submit a CV and supporting statement (up to 2 sides A4), an audio or video recording (up to 8 minutes), or BSL submission to jobs@southeastdance.org.uk. Please include how you meet the essential and desirable criteria.
