Job description

The post-holder will be expected to provide cover to the unit and support the consultants in AMU in providing medical leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the supervision of the AMU Consultants in the care of acute general medical inpatients, with the opportunity to participate in the Acute Medicine Take on call as well as work in Ambulatory Care and develop procedural skills.
  • Attend and actively participate in Departmental and other teaching sessions.
  • Assist with the teaching of undergraduate medical students attached to the firm and postgraduate doctors.
  • Participate in Clinical Audit and clinical governance activities within the department of Acute Medicine.
  • Support through exams and application processes for further posts / training posts.
Qualifications
  • Eligible for registration with the GMC.
  • MRCP Part 2 or equivalent is essential.

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a busy 30-bedded ward, with two acute consultants based on the ward during normal working hours. The department has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in teaching and training.
