A leading NHS Trust in the UK seeks a Senior O&G doctor for a fixed-term role focusing on acute and benign gynaecology. Responsibilities include managing ambulatory clinics and participating in the obstetric rota. The role offers training opportunities and support for portfolio development in a compassionate care environment.
It is anticipated that this will be a fixed-term appointment for 6-12 months to extend the post, dependent on success.
The post-holder must be a senior O&G doctor or (ST5-7/Post CTT or equivalent) with interests, clinical skills and knowledge in acute and benign gynaecology. The primary clinical work area will be ambulatory Gynaecology, Early Gynaecology Unit, Outpatients clinics with ultrasound scanning. The post holder will contribute to the obstetric rota and will have the opportunity to develop their obstetric skills to facilitate the completion of training / serve as evidence for portfolio development. There will be the opportunity for the successful applicant to undertake SITMS if they still need to start this and support the CESR/Alternate portfolio application.
The successful applicant must be able to participate in the O&G doctor’s on-call rota as a senior registrar and provide support to more junior doctors on the rota. In addition, the successful applicant is anticipated to offer senior gynaecology support and obstetrics cover for maternity triage.
The division will support the successful applicant through leadership programmes via the Barts Health Education Academy. There is an opportunity to undertake SITMS if not yet started and to support the CESR/Alternate portfolio application.
The post-holder will begin on the senior register rota at 1:10 on-calls. This is a 3-tier rota; there are 2 SHOs on call, a Junior registrar and a Senior registrar. The onsite obstetric consultant covers at The Royal London Hospital from 08:00-22:00. A separate Gynaecology Consultant is on call from 08:00-17:00 on-site and 17:00-08:00 off-site.
