Transport & Traffic Planner

Location: Skipton

Salary: £35 - £43k depending on experience

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

About the role

The Transport & Traffic Planner is responsible for ensuring customers receive goods on time via our haulage network. You will manage a small team, support traffic planning for vendors, and liaise closely with customers and the Warehouse & Distribution team.

What you will do
  • Manage a small team – develop skills, performance, behaviours & attendance; set goals and objectives during one‑to‑one sessions; manage expectations.
  • Ensure all transport requirements are booked with haulage partners accurately and timely.
  • Raise purchase orders for haulage activities.
  • Act as the first point of contact and owner of any transport enquiry, ensuring all are turned around promptly.
  • Manage inbound/outbound loading schedules and resource allocation.
  • Process customs clearance and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse & Distribution to keep internal communication effective.
  • Liaise daily with cross‑functional colleagues on transport matters.
  • Keep CRM systems updated with every vendor interaction.
  • Assist the Warehouse team in stock management and profit & loss documents.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings.
  • Achieve departmental and individual KPIs.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date customs clearance documents.

  • Competency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Desirable requirements
  • Experience within the packaging industry.
  • Knowledge of Sage 200.
