Control Team Leader

Are you an experienced Control Team Leader ready to lead from the front in a 24/7 operational environment?

📍 Location: Huddersfield
💷 Pay: £35,000 to £40,200

⏰ Hours: Working over a rota and covering a 24 hour operation.

The Opportunity

This is a senior opportunity for a confident Control Team Leader to take ownership of shift performance, escalation management, and out-of-hours operational continuity. As a Control Team Leader, you'll be responsible for leading a team of Controllers, ensuring customer KPIs are met, and maintaining full control of end-to-end delivery operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • 🔹 Act as the main escalation point for control teams, customers, and field management
  • 🔹 Lead, coach, and support a team of Controllers during assigned shifts
  • 🔹 Ensure emergency response and incident management procedures are followed
  • 🔹 Own end-to-end delivery execution and daily shift plans
  • 🔹 Maintain effective shift rotas and desk cover
  • 🔹 Drive performance across dropped loads, call handling, and replanning activity
  • 🔹 Ensure accurate and timely system data entry and KPI reporting
  • 🔹 Deliver shift handovers and maintain detailed handover logs
  • 🔹 Oversee replanning activities to avoid grade outs and tank outs
  • 🔹 Ensure consistent customer communication throughout the shift
  • 🔹 Arrange and deliver training for new starters and refresher training for existing staff
  • 🔹 Support performance reviews, probation assessments, and development planning
  • 🔹 Carry out ad-hoc duties including reporting, spreadsheets, and purchase orders
Must Haves
  • ✅ Previous experience in a Control Team Leader or senior control/operations role
  • ✅ Strong leadership and people management skills
  • ✅ Experience working to deadlines in a live operational environment
  • ✅ Understanding of driving hours and transport regulations
  • ✅ Proven customer service experience
  • ✅ Confident decision-maker with escalation management experience
