The Role

As a Transport Supervisor at Heywood, you will play a key part in overseeing night operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and service delivery across both local and remote sites. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting GRRs (Goods Received Reports) and addressing exceptions appropriately.
  • Managing HYL invoicing and associated administrative processes.
  • Debriefing drivers to ensure accurate completion of paperwork and electronic data.
  • Completing and monitoring the Status 0 Report for vehicle activity and load status.
  • Tracking and updating Critical Care Trackers to ensure priority loads are managed effectively.
  • Allocating drivers and monitoring their daily activity including route progress, delays, and unauthorised stops.
  • Managing agency driver bookings, monitoring spend, and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Monitoring and recording driver infringements, ensuring they are understood and signed.
  • Supporting driver training on electronic pads and company systems.
  • Booking vehicle inspections, servicing and MOTs both internally and externally.
  • Reporting vehicle defects, RTAs, and near misses.
  • Ordering and managing site fuel levels.
  • Collaborating with peers across the wider transport network to ensure high service levels.
Who We're Looking For

We\'re looking for a proactive, organised individual with experience in transport operations and night shift supervision. You should be able to hit the ground running and be confident making decisions during out-of-hours operations.

You\'ll have
  • Previous experience in transport supervision, preferably in a fast-paced logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of driver hours and working time legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • A strong sense of accountability and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
  • Clear and confident communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Transport Management Systems (TMS) is desirable, but not essential - we\'ll train the right person.
  • A team-player attitude with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
