The Role
As a Transport Supervisor at Heywood, you will play a key part in overseeing night operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and service delivery across both local and remote sites. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing day-to-day (D2D) transport operations, including depots without transport cover during out-of-hours periods.
- Reporting GRRs (Goods Received Reports) and addressing exceptions appropriately.
- Managing HYL invoicing and associated administrative processes.
- Debriefing drivers to ensure accurate completion of paperwork and electronic data.
- Completing and monitoring the Status 0 Report for vehicle activity and load status.
- Tracking and updating Critical Care Trackers to ensure priority loads are managed effectively.
- Allocating drivers and monitoring their daily activity including route progress, delays, and unauthorised stops.
- Managing agency driver bookings, monitoring spend, and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Monitoring and recording driver infringements, ensuring they are understood and signed.
- Supporting driver training on electronic pads and company systems.
- Booking vehicle inspections, servicing and MOTs both internally and externally.
- Reporting vehicle defects, RTAs, and near misses.
- Ordering and managing site fuel levels.
- Collaborating with peers across the wider transport network to ensure high service levels.
Who We're Looking For
We\'re looking for a proactive, organised individual with experience in transport operations and night shift supervision. You should be able to hit the ground running and be confident making decisions during out-of-hours operations.
You\'ll have
- Previous experience in transport supervision, preferably in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of driver hours and working time legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- A strong sense of accountability and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
- Clear and confident communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Competency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Familiarity with Transport Management Systems (TMS) is desirable, but not essential - we\'ll train the right person.
- A team-player attitude with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
