Job description
Overview

Major GPS is looking for a Transport Planner to join our Transport Division. The role involves assisting and coordinating the running of a fleet of over 150 vehicles, controlled from 3 manufacturing sites and 7 out‑bases across the UK. Our client is a market‑leading, fast‑paced manufacturing company completing over 5,000 deliveries nationwide each week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with planning the drivers and fleet both onsite and at the regional out‑base depots to achieve set planned deliveries nationwide.
  • Efficient routing of the fleet to maximise and maintain customer service whilst ensuring legal compliance with driver working hours and fuel utilisation.
  • Assisting the rest of the team in other functions within the office.
Required Skills / Experience
  • Interest in starting a career within the distribution sector.
  • High level of customer service.
  • Proactive, flexible approach with ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Computer literate, good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Can manage own work time to achieve timed daily duties.
  • Can work within a small team.
  • Can pass instructions directly to the drivers.
Additional Information

The position comes with a generous salary and package. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Hybrid work is available upon completion of training.

We are looking for individuals who can be flexible as the role will require you to be available to communicate with drivers outside of the standard working hours as required.
