Job summary

A national logistics company based in the UK is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to oversee route planning and driver management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in container route planning, excellent customer service abilities, and experience using the TOPS Transport Management System. This role is critical for ensuring efficient transport operations and provides an opportunity to work with a dedicated team in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in transport planning and scheduling.

  • Familiarity with Work Time Directive regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Route planning for container loads for UK wide distribution.
  • Monitor and analyze driver performance.
  • Manage and supervise driver workloads.
  • Ensure all customers receive timely updates and support.

Container Haulage

£35,000 - £40,000 per annum (flexible depending on experience)

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a national haulier who specialise within container loads for the UK.

They are seeking a Transport Planner to support the current transport operation in the management of route planning, customer service and driver management.

The Candidate
  • Container route planning experience
  • Experience with Navis VBS
  • Excellent manual transport planning skills and experience
  • Experienced in route planning for circa 15 x Tractor Units
  • Previous experience within a transport planning position
  • Experience using TOPS Transport Management System
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Competent decision making
  • Good geographical knowledge of the North West and UK
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Route planning for container loads for UK wide distribution
  • Monitoring driver performance
  • Review driver routes and plan to maximise efficiency
  • Keep all customers informed of all failed services or significant delays
  • Provide the communication link between customers and drivers
  • Supervising and managing driver workloads
  • Ensuring your routes are numbered correctly and all jobs are sequenced
  • Managing your driver's daily activities in line with the Working Time Directive and Driving hours.
  • Ensuring every customer receives excellent customer service.
  • Investigating failed services and looking into ways to resolve site issues.
