Transport Planner

HireGiant LTD need a Transport Planner / Clerk to join our well established client in swadlincote (DE11)

As an HGV Transport Planner, youll make sure the fleet runs smoothly, efficiently, and on time. Youll plan routes, schedule deliveries, and keep everything moving while staying compliant with transport laws and company policies. The aim is to get goods where they need to be safely, cost-effectively, and with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities as a transport clerk

• Plan and optimise daily HGV routes to make sure deliveries and collections run efficiently using paragon.
• Monitor driver schedules, vehicle availability, and delivery times to keep everything on track.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, and the operations team to handle any changes or issues.
• Make sure all drivers follow driver hours, Working Time Directive, and tachograph rules.
• Manage and update transport paperwork, delivery notes, and vehicle logs accurately.
• Work with the fleet and maintenance teams to keep vehicles safe and roadworthy.
• Look for ways to reduce costs, fuel use, and empty mileage while improving service levels.
• Keep up to date with transport legislation, road regulations, and best practices for HGV operations.
