Overview

Transport Planner - Container Transport. Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent. Salary: £40,000 - £45,000. We are currently seeking an experienced Transport Planner with a strong background in container logistics to join our client, a well-established and respected haulage company.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and profitable planning of HGV movements, ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations and delivering exceptional service to customers. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a busy operations team.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and allocate HGV resources efficiently to maximise profitability and meet customer requirements
  • Liaise effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours regulations and all relevant transport legislation
  • Utilise operational systems including Truckcom, Destin8, and other port-related platforms
  • Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours operational support when needed
Qualifications
  • Ideally a good knowledge and experience in container transport planning
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network, particularly around key ports
  • Proficient in IT with the ability to use and adapt to various planning systems
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
