Job description

The Anaesthesia Training Programme Director for Teaching for the North West (Mersey) Rotation will support the Head of School/Associate Head of School in delivering excellence in teaching and training courses.

The post holder will lead on the development of the School's Teaching Programme and collate and act on feedback from courses.

The post holder will be a member of the School Speciality Training Committee.

Main duties of the job

Work in collaboration with Head of School of Anaesthesia/Associate Head of Anaesthesia and local trainers and trainees to ensure high quality teaching and training for trainees on the North West (Mersey) rotation.

To work with the Head of School of Anaesthesia/ Associate Head of Anaesthesia to support all trainers and trainees leading teaching and training courses on the North West (Mersey) rotation to arrange and review feedback for courses and aid in looking for positive changes in response.

Job responsibilities

The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the Royal College, and guidelines and standards established within Anaesthesia are met.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Consultant or Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia and currently working in NW England
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists
  • Education Qualification such as Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Medical Education
Experience
  • Experience as a panel member on ARCP
  • Considerable experience of working with doctors in an educational context including running regional courses
  • Experience as an educational supervisor
  • Applicants who are doctors require a Licence to Practise
  • Previous or current appointment as a Leader in Healthcare Education
  • Experience in Recruitment at a national level
  • Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education
