Job description

Southern UK | Remote-based with travel | Full-Time | Training & Development Provided

Are you currently working as an in-plant ink technician, account management or within a production setting in the packaging industry?
Do you know inks inside out and are ready to take the next step into a sales role?

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to break into the world of technical sales with full support and mentorship from an experienced team.

The Opportunity:

Our client – a leading UK-based manufacturer of specialist liquid inks– is looking to recruit a Trainee Sales Executive to support business growth across the Southern UK region. The role is ideal for someone either in account management or with hands-on ink experience (e.g., in-plant technician or print room operative) who understands ink performance, application challenges, and production environments – and now wants to take that knowledge into the commercial space.

Your Role:

You will be trained and supported to:

  • Engage with new and existing customers in various packaging sectors.
  • Learn how to identify new business opportunities for solvent-based and water-based liquid inks.
  • Arrange and attend customer visits, building confidence in presenting solutions and understanding customer needs.
  • Work alongside technical colleagues to support product trials, problem-solving, and customer training.
  • Develop the skills to manage accounts, grow relationships, and contribute to long-term partnerships.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, learning the sales process from first contact through to order placement and follow-up.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Ink knowledge and production experience – perhaps as an in-plant technician, press operator, or ink room specialist.
  • A genuine interest in sales and customer relationships.
  • Willingness to learn, travel, and grow in a commercially driven role.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Structured training and mentoring from an experienced UK sales team.
  • Exposure to technical and commercial aspects of ink sales.
  • The chance to visit a wide variety of customers across Southern UK.
  • Be part of an innovative company that values expertise, service, and product performance.

About the Company:

With purpose-built manufacturing facilities and a reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service, our client is a respected independent manufacturer in the liquid inks and coatings space. They serve the packaging and print sectors both in the UK and globally, offering flexible, high-performance solutions.
