  • Develop an understanding, knowledge and practical methods used to examine materials, including non‑destructive testing (NDT).
  • Apply established test methods to ensure quality and support the laboratory in maintaining its accreditation to operate.
  • Travel to and from sites, collecting materials to be tested and delivering results day in, day out.
  • Be flexible with working across various locations to meet business needs and be comfortable working on your feet.
  • Take on activities to ensure targets are met while upholding safety standards for the team.
  • Be proactive in identifying problems and defects and seek solutions.
Qualifications
  • While previous experience is great, we are always open to wildcards. We're not just interested in experience and qualifications; we're looking for the right attitude and aptitude to fit right in at Balfour Beatty.
  • It's about enthusiasm, not school results. Often the most successful apprentices are those who have the drive to find out more about the sector, can be upfront about what they do and don't know, and are impatient to learn the job role.
  • We're looking for a creative and committed individual who is proactive in identifying problems and defects.
  • Even if this doesn't sound quite like you, but you still think you could do a great job in the role, get in touch. We're always open to wildcards.
Benefits
  • An attractive / negotiated salary.
  • 42 core base hours per week.
  • 25 days annual leave.
  • Pension savings schemes.
  • Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working where roles allow.
