Job summary

A leading water utilities company in Oxford is seeking a Trainee Field Technician to assist in identifying water leaks on underground networks. Responsibilities

  • Assist in detailed surveys to identify water leakage.
  • Use equipment to identify leaks.
  • Carry out controlled flow tests to pinpoint leakage areas.
  • Confirm suspected leaks and validate issues.
  • Undertake project-based surveys beyond routine detection.
  • Assist repair gangs with leak detection services.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately.
  • Upload data onto a laptop.

Job description

FJA are working with a large water utilities company who are recruiting for Trainee Field Technicians. The successful candidate will be trained to find water leaks on the underground water networks.

This role is working Nights – 40 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).

This is a temporary to permanent role for the right candidate.

Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Assist in detailed surveys to identify the type and location of water leakage
  • Use acoustic and electronic equipment (correlators, ground microphones, listening sticks) to identify leaks
  • Carry out controlled flow tests by isolating sections of the water network to pinpoint leakage areas
  • Confirm suspected leaks and validate trunk mains and seepage issues
  • Undertake project‑based surveys beyond routine detection, often for large‑scale leakage reduction programs
  • Assist repair gangs by providing leak detection services
  • Assist in survey work/project work not normally associated with day‑to‑day leak detection
  • Assist in adequate and accurate completion of all paperwork (including time sheets, survey forms, leak details and other duties as required)
  • Possess basic computer skills as you will be uploading data onto a laptop
  • Hold a full and valid driving licence, as you are required to drive for the role
