Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity to start your advanced practice journey in a team of experienced practitioners working in the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

We are seeking individuals who are keen to train to become clinical practitioners in a progressive and exciting environment, learning to manage a diverse patient group presenting with urgent illness and injury to the ED and UC.

You will be given fully funded training, dedicated supernumerary time, weekly training sessions in addition to your university courses, a dedicated educational supervisor and portfolio. Once you have qualified academically you will have a 1 year preceptorship with full support. We will help the successful candidate to develop a holistic knowledge and skill set for practitioners working within the urgent care environment. At this point, uplift to band 7 will be completed.

If you want to be part of a pro-active team who are committed to providing the highest standard of emergency and urgent care and have the enthusiasm and motivation to make a difference, then please contact James Rayner or Tracey Thorne for an informal visit or a discussion (01225 825715/james.rayner@nhs.net/tracey.thorn@nhs.net).

Responsibilities
  • To undertake a set training and competency based pathway with supervision and support, working towards autonomously undertaking assessment of a diverse range of patient presentations in all ages to the Emergency Department and Urgent Care to determine clinical diagnosis, provide treatment and plan appropriate onward care.
  • The predominant patient cohort will consist of minor injury and illness presentations.
  • You will be a part of the wider urgent care team of ECP’s (nursing/physio/paramedic) supporting nursing and health care assistants and working alongside medical and general practitioner colleagues.
