Trainee Electronics Technician

£28,000 - £31,000 + 25 Days Holiday + Life Insurance + Gym Membership + Training & Progression

Clacton-on-Sea - Commutable from Colchester, Ipswich, Harwich, Manningtree, Tendring

Are you an electronics technician with hands‑on testing or fault‑finding experience? Are you looking for a role that offers structured training, technical development and long‑term career progression within a modern engineering environment?

This position is an excellent opportunity to work within a production test team responsible for the verification, validation and continuous improvement of a wide range of electronic products. You will work to established test plans, operate test systems, and contribute to the accuracy and reliability of test results across the department.

You’ll gain experience across ATE test programs, test methodologies, and fault‑finding down to component level, with training available across specialised areas such as high voltage, RF and microwave testing. The role offers real technical variety and a clear pathway for development.

You will be supported through a structured induction programme, access to training courses, funded education opportunities, and regular performance reviews, all designed to help you grow and progress within a forward‑thinking engineering organisation.

The Role
  • Testing and validating electronic products using established procedures, test systems and ATE programs
  • Fault‑finding down to component level and carrying out clean, accurate repairs
  • Contributing to process improvement, producing detailed fault reports and supporting new test methods
The Candidate
  • Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (HNC, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent) with experience in electronic testing
  • Knowledge of test methodologies and equipment, able to fault‑find to component level
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, strong communication, organised and able to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment
