Overview

Job Title: Planner / Senior Planner
Location: Glasgow

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected, forward-thinking planning and design consultancy in their search for an experienced Planner or Senior Planner to join their growing Planning Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative, creative, and dynamic practice known for delivering high-quality, impactful projects across a diverse range of sectors – including residential, masterplanning, healthcare, defence, commercial, energy, and more.

The Role

Reporting to the Planning Director, you’ll play a key role in providing expert planning consultancy services to both private and public sector clients. You’ll help shape planning strategies, lead on development proposals, and support the delivery of complex, award-winning projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver clear, high-quality planning advice, reports, and strategies.
  • Manage, coordinate, and submit planning applications and appeals through all stages.
  • Provide planning input to multidisciplinary project teams and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  • Draft Planning Statements, appraisals, and associated documentation.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in planning policy and legislation.
  • Represent the company in meetings with local authorities, clients, and communities.
About You
  • MRTPI-accredited Planner with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrable experience advising on and managing major or complex developments.
  • Confident communicator with strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Comfortable acting as a main client contact and project lead with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of planning legislation, policy, and design principles.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
