Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed in-house Town and Country Planning team working on across a diverse portfolio of major capital and infrastructure projects.

You will play a key role in ensuring the effective use of permitted development rights and in securing planning consents in line with Town and Country Planning legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver small to medium planning consents for capital programmes managing all related activities.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to optimise permitted development opportunities.
  • Advise and support on all consents required for construction projects.
  • Contribute to policy regulatory and strategic advice affecting consents delivery.
  • Develop and implement planning and consultation strategies for projects.
  • Partner with the Capital Delivery Communications team on consultation and engagement activities.
  • Review and assure planning-related deliverables to ensure high quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local planning authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Support the Special Projects Consenting Lead on DCOs where required.

  • Detailed understanding of the Town and Country Planning Act General Permitted Development Order Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations and Environment Act.
  • RTPI‑accredited MSc (or equivalent) in Town and Country Planning.
Member or working towards full membership of the RTPI.
