Toolmaker

Salary: £40,000 to £43,000

Hours: 7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Toolmaker to join a busy toolroom supporting high volume manufacturing of plumbing and water control products. This position focuses on precision repair, service and maintenance of mould tools, press tools and related components used across production.

You will be working in a skilled team handling a high volume of repair tasks and contributing directly to product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

What you will do
  • Repair, service and maintain injection mould tools, press tools, gauges, jigs and fixtures
  • Work with mould tools and press tools used for plastic and metal part production
  • Handle tasks involving valve gauges, unscrewing tool mechanisms, gearboxes and polishing work
  • Carry out repairs with high accuracy using manual machines including grinding equipment
  • Inspect tooling for wear, damage or quality issues and complete associated documentation
  • Manage a busy repair workload of up to 40 jobs per week, typically 2 jobs per toolmaker at a time
  • Support continuous improvement of tooling and production processes

  • Proven toolmaking background within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience repairing mould tools and press tools
  • Strong manual machining skills, especially grinding
  • High attention to detail, precision measuring and tolerance work
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and prioritise effectively
  • Strong problem solving approach and a commitment to delivering high quality repairs
  • Good communication and ability to work as part of an experienced team
