Join our team and help us continue to bring people together to get the most out of life.
About the job

As part of the Timetable Transformation programme, we are building SWR a Timetable Fit for the Future. In the programme we have a core team focused on the development of the timetable, alongside other workstreams incorporating Evaluation, Consultation, Infrastructure and Operational Delivery (including Traincrew). One of the challenges for this team is the workload involved in not only developing our timetable proposition, but then the requirement to represent the developed plan across our internal and external workstreams.

The purpose of this role is therefore to provide the critical interface between the timetable development team and the wider workstreams and beyond into our industry and public stakeholders. At the same time, this role will also be expected to represent back to the development team the concerns, requirements and aspirations of the external stakeholders back into the TT development workstream. In doing so, they will be expected to act as a critical friend to the development process, challenging on the design and choices being made as well as running assurance processes around the plans.

Ultimately this role will enable the programme to deliver a better future timetable which meets more of our customer and stakeholder aspirations, helping more people to get together to get the most out of life.

Your main responsibilities will be:
  • Represent the TT Development programme as the SME for the Timetable across consultation and engagement sessions with Stakeholders, Colleagues, and Customers
  • Manage the relationships with relevant programme groups (Consultation, Infrastructure and Operational Delivery), representing the proposed timetable changes
  • Provide SME support to Consultation and Engagement Lead when responding to written questions
  • Work in partnership with SWRs TT Development Manager to understand and challenge TT Development activities and decisions
  • Run an assurance process to cross-check/QA developed TTs, prior to publication for use by other programme workstreams
  • Own the development of adjustments to the Base plan, reflecting the anticipated CP7 and CP8 programmes/workbanks
  • Support development of updated STP Base Plans across both the Engineering and Events BAU workstreams for the revised TT
You'll need to be:
  • Multiple years experience in a train planning environment
  • Relevant experience of typical rail industry planning systems and processes
  • Knowledge and experience of Long and Short term planning processes, as well as Crew Diagramming knowledge
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to synthesize and simplify a detailed train plan into customer/stakeholder friendly information
  • Able to break down large and complicated problems into an actionable and achievable plan
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with key stakeholders and suppliers across our data estate
  • Have a high attention to detail, completing work to a high level of accuracy, maintaining focus, with the ability to prioritize workloads and work to challenging deadlines
  • Proactive and with a drive for continuous improvement
Desirable
  • Experience working within legacy UK Rail franchise bidding process a plus
  • Knowledge of VoyagerPlan and/or TrainTRACS
