Job summary

A healthcare provider in Rotherham is seeking a fulltime Health Care Support Worker to join their therapy team. The role involves supporting the delivery of patient care within outpatient services and requires candidates to demonstrate relevant qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will possess an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience. Job description

We are looking to recruit a fulltime Health Care Support Worker to join our service at BreathingSpace. You will join our therapy team working within our outpatient services at BreathingSpace, covering pulmonary rehabilitation assessment clinics, classes and observation clinic. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a treatment for patients with long-term lung conditions who are aiming to improve their quality of life via exercise and education. The BreathingSpace therapy team is made up of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and other Health Care Support Workers. Our aim is to provide a high quality, efficient service to maximise peoples independence and function for patients with respiratory conditions. We have a strong commitment to MDT working, working very closely with nursing colleagues at BreathingSpace. We have a strong commitment to supervision, PDR, CPD and staff training and audit. We are looking for experience of working within community or acute hospital therapy teams would be desirable. Applicants must hold a valid work permit or be eligible to work within the UK. Main duties of the job
  • To perform non-clinical and administrative duties within the department, as required.
  • To assist the therapists to deliver patient care and treatments.
  • To be responsible for and manage a delegated clinical caseload including review of cases as necessary.
  • To perform walking test and asking health related questionnaires
  • To input data collection, working towards internal and national service projects.
  • To perform observations on patients visiting the respiratory clinics and during exercise classes.
  • To take patients bloods.
  • To monitor and taking responsibility of ordering stock within our own team and the wider MDT
  • Supporting patients in an exercise class, with progression, regression of exercise with senior support
  • To achieve and maintain competencies through skills and knowledge development.
  • To present patient education as part of the pulmonary rehabilitation

Qualifications
  • Be able to demonstrate learning to a minimum level equivalent to an NVQ Level 3 in a related field (i.e. Health and Social Care) or possess equivalent experience
